Michelle Drage & Sue Lightfoot

...I AM MOMENTS... opening drinks with the artists - Sat 25 March 2/4pm - exhibition on view 24 March to 10 April

Michelle Drage:

We spend so much time rushing through life to get to the next point, that at times we forget to stop and note the details of the spectacular natural world that surrounds us. I try to make a conscious effort to pause to take in the detail and take note of the world around me; or at least to stop and look in detail when I notice something that catches my eye at that very moment.

This is what inspires my artwork.

My current works are based on Australian native flowers and my interpretation of their beauty, colour, detail and location. From the development of the bud, to the blooming of the flower, to the production of the seed that will produce the next plant, I endeavour to include all of these details in the works of each native flower I represent.

Creating the detail in my work is like a meditation for me – a way to pause and focus, be present, take notice and calm my mind.

I choose to work with the mandala or other symmetrical geometric designs to represent what I see, providing a balance and calmness these designs offer, both in the process of creating the work and when viewing the finished artwork.

Sue Lightfoot:

13 years ago my life changed dramatically and traumatically. Fortunately, photography stole my heart and gave me a different focus on life. Since this time, I have immersed myself in photography and allowed my creativity to take over all areas of my life.

I like to photograph the natural environment.

I enjoy the whole process of taking my camera to remote locations and making images. I like to make images that reflect a uniquely personal experience, an image that is simple yet filled with awe and wonder.

Each one of the images in this retrospective exhibition hold a very deep and intimate connection with my soul and have a place of permanent significance in my portfolio.

I hope you enjoy the visual experience mostly selected from the Blue Mts and National Parks NSW....
