Jude Rose:
An established Australian artist specialising in miniature oil on canvas landscapes, and more recently, using watercolour and pencil on Birchwood panels. For the past several years, Rose has continued her exploration of topiary style landscapes and vistas, along with her continued pursuit in hand coloured unique state linocuts and ink drawings on paper.
Born in Darwin NT, Rose travelled extensively throughout Europe, South America, Africa and Asia to study art, including two years at Beaux Arts in Paris.
Rebecca Verpoorten-Laws:
Of Land and Clay - Artist statement.
This body of work is a narrative celebration of the natural word, and of creation and the act of creating. It was made to intentionally explore the joy and gratitude I feel for the wonder’s of the natural world and of relationships, which remain steadfast and vital despite the encroaching difficulties and struggles we often experience in our lives.
This work explores the beauty of the earth and glimpses into the heavens to contemplate eternity and the heavenly realms and the key concepts of faith.
My work explores the vessel and organic form giving voice to the clay as a medium. I am influenced by historical ceramics particularly the art nouveau period. My work is multi fired to earthenware temperature to produce work that is rustic, rich in colour and form, and immediate -
A kind of earthy glamour.
